Families and Children

NOVAS has provided family services since 2005, offering intensive support to families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, promoting independent living and enhancing life skills.

Intensive Familiy Support, Limerick

NOVAS flagship family service was established in Limerick in 2005 in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council and the HSE Social Inclusion. Initially working with families who were at risk of homelessness and those living in precarious or substandard accommodation, it has pivoted in recent years to support families who are living in emergency homeless accommodation. This service seeks to secure long-term housing for clients, including from NOVAS housing stock.

Other Services for Families

NOVAS provides support to families experiencing homelessness in all the counties we work in. This support includes:

  • Advocacy and sign-posting
  • Developing life-skills – budgeting and money management, managing a household, being a good neighbour
  • Emotional support
  • Securing accommodation and tenancy sustainment

In Ennis, we operate a small family hub, providing emergency accommodation for five families through the lens of Trauma Informed Practice.

All NOVAS family services are rooted in the values of respect, dignity, social justice and equity, with the primary focus on securing long-term housing and sustainable tenacies.
