Rathgar Women’s Service
Rathgar is a trauma-informed facility in the Dublin 6 region, dedicated to supporting women experiencing homelessness. It offers 14 single units of accommodation, in a safe and compassionate environment that acknowledges the unique trauma histories of its clients. Many women at Rathgar face challenges such as family breakdown, separation from their children, and repeat experiences of homelessness.
In line with NOVAS Strategic Plan 2023-2027, Rathgar provides effective solutions for women with complex needs. The service uses trauma-sensitive care and case management, along with holistic assessments, to offer personalised support that helps clients rebuild their lives with dignity. Rathgar also focuses on equipping women with the skills for sustainable independent living, fostering stability and collaboration throughout their journey.
The service is funded by our partners at the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) and the Health Service Executive (HSE). Guided by six trauma-informed principles – safety, trust, peer support, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural respect – Rathgar meets the immediate needs of its clients while promoting emotional wellbeing and long-term stability. By integrating these principles, Rathgar supports women as they navigate their challenges and work towards recovery and independence.
